Sound Meditation 7th July 2017 8pm-Midnight
Our meditation will take place in House of Yoga Waterford, it will start at 8 pm and will finish around midnight.
There will be two people running this puja – Anna and Michael. They are both qualified sound therapists.
How is gong meditation practiced?
Individuals who perform gong baths and meditation usually do it while lying down on their backs. To make yourself comfortable, bring a meditation mat, a pillow and a blanket when attending a gong meditation. All that’s required is for you to lie down in a comfortable position. The gong is initially played very softly. As the meditation session progresses, the volume is increased gradually. And since the purpose of the meditation gong sound is purely therapeutic, the volume is never amped to unbearable levels.
The gong playing technique is changed frequently to avoid sustaining a fixed, monotonous rhythm. This results to entrainment, a process in which brainwave frequencies change. Your brain first achieves the Alpha brainwave state that exists in frequencies lying between 8 and 12 Hertz. Alpha brain waves are associated with feelings of relaxation. In this state, individuals experience daydreams, associative thinking and elevated imagination. This is quickly followed by an influx of Theta brainwaves. Theta waves fall within the frequencies lying between 4 – 7 Hz. Activities related to theta brainwave state occur either when you’re deep in meditation or during REM sleep.
Gong meditation benefits
Meditation gong sound therapy has been practiced for thousands of years. It is believed that gong baths help to reduce stress as well as opening up your emotional blockages. Scientific evidence suggests that sound therapy causes human DNA strands to auto-repair when they get damaged. What you need to bring?
Everyone is asked to bring warm blanket,yoga mat (or something that will make it comfortable and warm when laying on the floor) and a pillow.
You can have your own intention /prayer in heart and all of them will be included make sure you are wearing comfortable clothing like sweat pants or leggings and bring water with you.
Anyone with a Peacemaker, epilepsy, schizophrenia or pregnant are not permitted to attend the Puja. No alcohol or any other psychoactive substances are allowed on the day for your safety.
Tickets €25 per person paid at the door or €20 when booked in advance online with House of Yoga Waterford.
