Karen Dunphy

Karen has been practising yoga for over 12 years and believes it to be one of the greatest things she has done for her physical and mental health. With a BA in Psychology and as someone who struggled herself with anxiety and depression, the mental health benefits of yoga are very close to her heart. Being a self-proclaimed curvier girl she wants to show that yoga is for EVERYBODY! No matter what size you are, what age you are, how active you are. The beauty and power of yoga is that it’s all about you, about how you show up on the mat! Karen also began attending a weekly Burlesque class to fully embrace the body positive message she wants to convey. And to learn some fun dance moves! As a former head coach for the Waterford City Viqueens Roller Derby team, Karen was inspired to complete the 200hr RYT programme with My Yoga Waterford to bring her coaching voice to the yoga studio. Both roller derby and weightlifting have opened her eyes to the need for yoga as ‘cross-training’ for other sports. Karen aims to teach a Body Positive class with a happy, bright energy that benefits the body and mind. Her class is a gentle Beginners Hatha Yoga class suitable for all. Outside of yoga Karen can be found lifting weights in the gym, walking her dogs on Tramore beach or dyeing her hair an ever-changing range of bright colours
