This deeply relaxing class is suitable for beginners and all levels of yoga. We begin with breath awareness and slow gentle vinyasa (movement co ordinated with breath) movements through the body. The first half of the class is done on a chair as we wake spine, arms, head and neck with conscious care.
The class weaves in a deep quality of mindfulness into the body by focusing more on breath awareness and sensory embodiment, and a sense of ease through the body. Our focus, in a mindfulness sense is to be fully present with what is happening with each breath, each small and subtle movement. Although the focus is on developing a deeper quality of gentleness in body and mind, some strong poses are included to ground the softer qualities of the slower meditative movements and to create a stable and solid foundation for our mindfulness practice in the body.
